You are embarking on your health and fitness journey. Perhaps a New Year’s resolution. Or a body transformation challenge. Or better yet… A lifestyle change.
You’re doing all the “good stuff”. You think you’re doing everything right. But you see those frustrating scale fluctuations each and every day.😳
Here’s the good news… It is normal!😊
If you’re doing all the good stuff, these small, daily weight fluctuations are simply a little bit of water retention. And they are normal!
For me, having a pound or two weight swing per day is normal. Understand this… It is not body fat! Your body cannot put on fat that fast. Nor can your body put on muscle that fast. Again, it is water.
Focus on your good “activities” - lifting weights, eating nutritiously, staying hydrated, moving your body – not the fluctuations of the scale.🏆
In fact, if these scale fluctuations are causing you mental stress, I suggest that you simply stop weighing yourself. The added stress is not helping you. And there’s also better ways to judge your weight loss progress – How are your clothes fitting?
What is causing these weight fluctuations?
💥 High sodium foods
💥 Exercise – especially a hard workout
💥 Hormonal changes
💥 High carbohydrate foods – every gram of carbohydrates makes us hold 3–4 g of water (This is normal and not a bad thing. Remember that our body is made up of a lot of water. We need water.)
💥 Bathroom habits
💥 Medication
💥 Alcohol
💥 A poor night sleep
My suggestion:
✅ Focus on the big picture.
✅ Focus on the trends over an extended period of time.
✅ And focus on the items that are within your control – your activities!
✅ And…. how are you feeling?
Question: If you woke up in the morning and magically had your “dream body”, would you care about the number on the scale?
